Over 20,000 Foreign-Invested Enterprises Operating in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A total of 20,973 enterprises with foreign investments were operating in Uzbekistan as of 1 August 2026, with the commercial trade and industrial sectors representing the largest shares, according to data from the National Statistics Committee.
The trade sector accounted for the largest concentration of foreign capital, housing 7,450 foreign-invested companies. The industrial sector followed with 4,098 active enterprises. Together, trade and industry comprised 11,548 enterprises, representing approximately 55.1% of all active entities with foreign participation.
Information and communications technologies maintained a notable presence with 1,764 foreign-invested companies, while the construction sector accounted for 1,732 firms.
Additionally, 920 foreign-invested enterprises operated in accommodation and food services, 646 in transportation and storage, and 532 in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries. Health and social work services accounted for 241 enterprises, while 3,590 entities were engaged in other economic activities.
Statistical trends show that the total number of active foreign-invested enterprises in Uzbekistan grew 1.7-fold over the preceding five years. Of the 20,973 operating companies recorded as of 1 August 2026, 4,685 were structured as joint ventures, while 16,288 operated as fully foreign-owned enterprises.
