Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan Bilateral Trade Up 45 Percent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Bilateral trade volume between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan increased by 45 percent since the beginning of 2026, reaching US$624.6 million, according to Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev in an interview with the Dunyo Information Agency.
Kulubaev stated that the two nations have targeted expanding annual bilateral trade turnover to US$3 billion. He highlighted industrial cooperation and the development of regional transport and logistics corridors as central priorities for deepening economic partnership.
Economic engagement was supported by the Kyrgyz-Uzbek Business Forum held on 28 July 2026, where participants finalized 16 bilateral agreements covering commercial contracts and joint investment projects. Kulubaev also cited a previously signed memorandum focused on free economic and industrial zone development, establishing frameworks for joint manufacturing operations. Under planned agreements, Uzbek firms intend to conduct geological exploration in Kyrgyzstan and establish joint agricultural clusters.
Beyond commercial initiatives, the two countries are expanding collaboration in sustainable environmental development. Uzbekistan endorsed Kyrgyzstan's initiative to host the second Bishkek+25 Global Mountain Summit in 2027, with both nations coordinating on mountain ecosystem preservation.
The Kyrgyz Foreign Minister emphasized that bilateral relations have reached an unprecedented level of strategic alliance following the signing of the Treaty on Allied Relations during a state visit by the President of Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan.
