Kyrgyzstan Plans to Open Consulate General in Andijan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Kyrgyzstan plans to establish a Consulate General in Andijan to further expand diplomatic, economic, and cultural engagement with Uzbekistan, according to Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev in an interview with the Dunyo Information Agency.

Kulubaev stated that the new diplomatic mission will unlock additional opportunities to expand trade, tourism, logistics, and cultural exchanges between the two neighboring nations.

The Foreign Minister emphasized that opening a consulate in Andijan aligns with the overall positive trajectory of Kyrgyz-Uzbek relations, which have expanded following the signing of the Treaty on Allied Relations during a state visit by the President of Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan.

Kulubaev did not specify a concrete timeline or target date for the official opening of the Consulate General in Andijan.

The expansion of Kyrgyzstan's consular presence follows ongoing investments in its diplomatic infrastructure in Uzbekistan, highlighted by the opening of a new embassy building for the Kyrgyz Republic in Tashkent in May 2024.
