Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund Approves 37 Projects Worth Over $100 Million
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund has approved 37 projects valued at over US$100 million across multiple economic sectors, creating approximately 900 new jobs, according to Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev in an interview with the Dunyo Information Agency.
The fund finances initiatives across diverse economic areas, including textiles, energy, logistics, manufacturing, municipal infrastructure, and public transit modernization.
Kulubaev described the fund's operations as a successful model of practical bilateral engagement, functioning against the backdrop of expanding overall economic ties between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Since the beginning of 2026, bilateral trade volume between the two neighboring nations grew by 45 percent to reach US$624.6 million.
The Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund was established under an intergovernmental agreement signed between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in Tashkent on 11 March 2021. The agreement entered into force following domestic ratifications later that year, with the presidential decree of Uzbekistan ratifying the treaty signed on 3 November 2021.
The fund officially launched operations on 14 April 2022 in Bishkek, established to finance joint investment ventures in industrial manufacturing, agriculture, transport, and other priority economic sectors.
Key objectives of the fund include expanding economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, supporting the modernization and growth of Kyrgyzstan's economy, and facilitating more effective utilization of bilateral commercial opportunities.
The fund aims to establish favorable conditions for bilateral trade, increase overall trade volume, diversify trade structure, and advance long-term economic integration.
Financial support is targeted toward self-sustaining projects within priority sectors of the Kyrgyz economy. To achieve these goals, the fund provides commercial loans, equity investments, and other financial instruments to legal entities registered and operating within Kyrgyzstan.
