Permanent Immigration to Uzbekistan Up 2.5-Fold in H1 2026

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A total of 1,649 foreign citizens moved to Uzbekistan for permanent residence in the first six months of 2026, marking a 2.5-fold increase compared to the same period last year, according to the country's National Statistics Committee.

The figure represents an increase of 976 people over the January–June period of 2025, with the largest share of new permanent residents arriving from Russia, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan.

Russian citizens accounted for 580 of the arrivals, followed by 362 from Kazakhstan and 147 from Tajikistan, while an additional 560 people relocated from other countries.

The majority of incoming residents chose the capital city of Tashkent. During the first six months of the year, 1,089 people—or roughly two-thirds of the total arrivals—settled in the capital.

An additional 269 people moved to the Tashkent region for permanent residence, while 115 people relocated to the Republic of Karakalpakstan. Figures across the remaining regions were significantly lower.

Navoi region received 31 arrivals, Samarkand region recorded 22, Khorezm region accepted 21, and Surkhandarya region saw 18. Syrdarya and Ferghana regions registered 15 arrivals each.

Bukhara and Namangan regions received 13 people each, Jizzakh region recorded 12, and Andijan region saw 11. The lowest figure was recorded in Kashkadarya region, where five people arrived for permanent residence from abroad.

In total, 1,090 of the 1,649 arrivals settled in either the city of Tashkent or the surrounding Tashkent region, accounting for approximately 66% of all foreign permanent relocations to Uzbekistan in January–June 2026.
