300 MW Solar Power Plant Commissioned in Navoi Region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A 300 MW solar photovoltaic power plant alongside a 150 MW energy storage system has been commissioned in the Nurota district of the Navoi region, according to Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy.
The project was implemented in partnership with Chinese company China Energy Overseas Investment at a total cost of $390 million. The operational launch created 30 permanent jobs at the facility.
The solar facility is designated to generate 657 million kWh of electricity annually, an output volume sufficient to supply approximately 273,000 households for a full year, according to Energy Ministry figures.
The launch of the energy complex will also decrease natural gas usage in power generation, with anticipated annual savings estimated at 175 million cubic meters of gas. Additionally, project operations are projected to prevent the emission of 377,000 tonnes of harmful atmospheric pollutants each year.
The newly operational infrastructure combines the 300 MW solar photovoltaic generation facility with a 150 MW battery storage unit designed to accumulate electricity for system regulation.
