Number of enterprises in Uzbekistan reaches 596,900

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan had 596,900 operating enterprises and organizations as of 1 July 2026, according to the National Statistics Committee. Small enterprises and micro-firms accounted for 435,400, or 72.9% of the total, excluding farms and dehkan farms.

The number of active enterprises increased by 7.2% year-on-year from 556,900 entities on 1 July 2025. This growth brings the figure closer to the 2022 level of 680,400 enterprises, following declines in 2023 and 2024.

Regionally, Tashkent has the highest concentration of operating businesses with 113,600 units, representing 19.0% of the total. Tashkent region follows with 9.4%, Samarkand region with 9.2%, Ferghana region with 8.5%, and Kashkadarya region with 7.7%.

By economic activity, trade leads the market with 162,900 enterprises, or 27.3% of the total. Agriculture, forestry, and fisheries rank second with a 21.9% share, followed by industry at 10.6%. Together, these three sectors account for more than 59.8% of all operating enterprises.

Limited liability companies dominate the 440,100 active commercial enterprises, totaling 351,600 or 79.9%. Private enterprises account for 10.7%, family enterprises make up 8.5%, and joint-stock companies represent 0.1%.

The number of operating enterprises with foreign investment reached 20,502 by 1 July 2026, an increase of 3,817 units or 22.9% over the year. This total includes 15,891 foreign enterprises and 4,611 joint ventures. The largest growth occurred in trade, which rose from 6,038 to 7,289 units; industry, from 3,450 to 4,031; and construction, from 1,256 to 1,689. Over the past five years, the total number of enterprises with foreign capital grew 1.4 times, while the share of wholly foreign-owned enterprises within that group rose from 56.7% to 77.5%.

Tashkent hosts the majority of enterprises with foreign investment at 62.5%. Among the regions, Tashkent region leads with 13.8%, followed by Samarkand region at 3.6% and Ferghana region at 3.2%.

By country of capital origin, China ranks first with 6,060 enterprises, representing 29.6% of all foreign-invested businesses. Russia follows with 16.8%, Türkiye with 11.2%, Kazakhstan with 6.4%, South Korea with 3.5%, and Afghanistan with 3.3%.
