New street to be a harmonious blend of nature and culture

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  On 10 September, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the construction and beautification projects on Yangi Uzbekistan Street in Tashkent.

This avenue, stretching 11 kilometers and 86 meters wide, is one of the largest infrastructure initiatives in recent years. Its significance has increased due to the city’s expansion and the growing tourist potential of the Tashkent region.

According to the presidential resolution of 30 June 2022, the street is planned to feature a business center and well-developed roadside infrastructure. A special directorate was established and an architectural concept was developed for these purposes.

The project includes the construction of modern residential buildings in a national style, as well as hotels, shopping, entertainment, and service complexes on both sides of the street. Parks, pedestrian, and bicycle paths will also be provided for the convenience of residents and visitors to the capital.

In addition, the street will be home to the under-construction Tashkent-East Airport and the Olympic Village. The President has instructed to pay special attention to the greening of the area around these facilities and the adjacent roads.

During the visit, proposals for the street’s landscape design were discussed. The project plans to plant decorative trees and shrubs, such as plane trees, oaks, tulip trees, catalpas, pistachio plums, cypress, Indian lilac, lavender, and Syrian roses. Two fountains are planned to be built in front of the airport. Overall, this area will become part of Tashkent’s "green belt."

The President provided recommendations on landscape composition, emphasizing the importance of harmoniously blending ecology and cultural elements to create a unique space for both residents and tourists.
