Narbaeva, EU Ambassador discuss cooperation development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oлий Мажлис, Tanzila Narbaeva, held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union to Uzbekistan, Toivo Klaar. The parties discussed the current state and prospects for developing multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EU.

During the talks, Toivo Klaar noted that the European Union highly values the large-scale reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, as well as initiatives aimed at developing interparliamentary dialogue.

The meeting participants paid special attention to the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement. The parties expressed confidence that its full entry into force will allow relations between Uzbekistan and the European Union to reach a qualitatively new level, and they emphasized the importance of the prompt ratification of the document by the parliaments of the EU member states.

Additionally, matters regarding the further expansion of interparliamentary interaction were discussed, including the continuation of joint initiatives within the framework of the Inter Pares project.

Following the meeting, the sides confirmed their interest in the consistent development of an open and constructive dialogue, the intensification of interparliamentary contacts, and the implementation of new joint practical projects.
