Marijuana Seized from Nukus Resident in Joint Operation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Officers from the anti-smuggling department of the Customs Administration of the Republic of Karakalpakstan have stopped the illegal turnover of narcotics, seizing nearly 78 grams of marijuana from a local resident in Nukus.

The operation was carried out jointly with officers from the State Security Service, internal affairs bodies, and the National Guard.

During the operation, law enforcement officers stopped a citizen walking in the city. In the presence of witnesses, officers conducted a personal search of the individual.

Inside the citizen's black handbag, officers discovered 16 matchboxes containing marijuana. The total weight of the seized substance, including the packaging, was 77.56 grams.

Following the seizure, the Customs Administration of the Republic of Karakalpakstan initiated a criminal case under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan.
