Namangan airport construction to be accelerated

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Hokim of Namangan Region, Shavkat Abdurazzakov, inspected the construction progress of the new passenger terminal at Namangan International Airport, which is being built under an investment project valued at US$175 million.

On 23 June 2026, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, visited the construction site of the new terminal, starting his working trip to the Namangan Region at the facility.

According to the project, construction of the three-story passenger terminal, which has a total area of 22,600 square meters, is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026. It will have a capacity to handle 1,200 passengers per hour and more than 3 million passengers annually.

The project includes the creation of customs and border control zones, a business lounge, a medical station, and Duty Free shops. Once the terminal is operational, 550 new jobs will be created.

In addition, a cargo terminal with a capacity of up to 50 tons per day is planned for construction by 2027, which will expand opportunities to export products to more than 90 countries worldwide.

Following his visit to the construction site, Shavkat Abdurazzakov instructed the responsible officials to accelerate the pace of construction, paying special attention to the quality of the work performed and the efficient execution of the project.
