Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has reviewed the construction of a congress hall and two modern hotels in Bukhara as part of efforts to expand the city's tourism infrastructure and prepare it to host major international events.

According to figures presented during the visit, the number of foreign tourists visiting Uzbekistan in 2025 was almost six times higher than in 2016, while exports of tourism services increased elevenfold. This has driven growing demand for modern facilities capable of hosting international forums, conferences and high-level meetings.

The congress hall is being built as part of a US$60 million project. The building will have a total area of 14,500 square metres. Major concrete works have been completed, while construction teams are continuing to install external utility networks, build the facade and carry out roofing work.

A Hilton Garden Inn hotel, valued at US$37 million, is being constructed on the same site. The seven-storey hotel will have 212 rooms and an underground car park. The main structural framework has been completed, with work now focused on internal walls, utility networks and facade finishing.

Another project is a seven-storey Holiday Inn hotel worth US$39.6 million, also designed to accommodate 212 rooms. A two-storey business centre is being built next to it. Roofing installation and construction of internal walls are under way at the hotel, while concrete work on the underground section of the business centre is nearing completion.

Following the inspection, Mirziyoyev emphasised the importance of the facilities in enabling Bukhara to host international events to a high standard and expand its range of tourism services.

The projects are expected to contribute to higher household incomes and regional economic development.

The president instructed those responsible to ensure that construction is completed on schedule and that strict quality standards are maintained.
