Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Alisher Kadirov, a deputy of the Oliy Majlis and leader of the "Milliy Tiklanish" party, has urged Uzbek labor migrants to learn foreign languages and seek job opportunities outside Russia.
According to him, Russian legislation is becoming increasingly restrictive for foreign workers, making the country’s labor market less attractive.
"A large portion of our migrants work in Russia, many of them young people. However, Russian lawmakers continue to pass discriminatory laws, creating additional obstacles. If migrants manage to send back only 80 soums out of every 100 they earn, what is the point? We must help our citizens find alternatives. Learn English! Even with minimal language skills, one can, for example, move to Germany," Kadirov emphasized.
The deputy stressed that without a shift in approach, Uzbekistan will not be able to effectively reduce poverty or prevent cases of mistreatment of labor migrants.
