Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — In Ferghana, officers of the Traffic Safety Department (UBDD) unlawfully canceled 106 registered traffic violations committed by a Chevrolet Malibu vehicle with license plate 40 081 SBA.
Earlier, social media reports alleged that the vehicle belonged to a company linked to a close relative of the head of the regional UBDD, Lieutenant Colonel Akmal Akhmedov.
The Press Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Traffic Safety Service confirmed the authenticity of these reports.
It was announced that Lieutenant Colonel Akhmedov was relieved of his duties by order of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan.
The case has been referred to the appropriate law enforcement agencies for further investigation.
It was also reported that the driver of the vehicle has paid the full amount of the fines for the previously canceled violations. However, the total amount of the fines was not disclosed.
