Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Institute of Anthropology of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology (IVPP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing have signed a scientific cooperation agreement, the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan reported.
The five-year agreement provides for joint research in Paleolithic archaeology, ancient DNA and proteins, paleoanthropology, and the study of ancient natural environments.
The cooperation programme includes organizing expeditions in Uzbekistan, implementing joint research projects, preparing publications and holding conferences.
The agreement also provides for annual research internships lasting one to two months at IVPP laboratories for researchers and doctoral students from Uzbekistan’s Institute of Anthropology.
Cooperation with IVPP, one of the leading research institutions in paleontology and paleoanthropology, is aimed at further developing anthropological research in Uzbekistan.
The agreement also provides for the adoption of modern research methods, strengthening the scientific capacity of young researchers and expanding international scientific ties.
