Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan ranked 52nd among 199 countries for openness of entry to foreign passport holders, while the Uzbek passport ranked 132nd globally. The Uzbek passport’s mobility score is 69 destinations, representing 34.8% of global coverage, according to the 2026 Passport Reports.
According to the report, Uzbek passport holders can travel to 28 destinations without a visa and to another 38 destinations with a visa on arrival or other simplified procedures within the same access category. Three additional destinations are available through electronic travel authorization (eTA).
A prior visa is required for 129 destinations. Together, the 28 visa-free destinations, 38 destinations with simplified entry and three destinations with eTA make up the mobility score of 69.
The highest regional access score for the Uzbek passport is recorded in Central Asia, at 75% of destinations.
Three countries in the region are accessible without a visa, while one falls into the visa-required category. In Asia, the overall access level is 59.2%, with Uzbekistan ranking 29th among 50 Asian countries. The figure stands at 66.7% in the Gulf countries and 58.8% in the Middle East.
Access levels are lower in other regions. The figure is 50% in the Caribbean, 42.6% in Africa, 30.4% in North America and 28.6% in Oceania. South America records 16.7%, while Europe stands at 10.6%. Of 47 European destinations, five are accessible without a visa, while a prior visa is required for 42.
Visa-free destinations listed in the report include the United Arab Emirates for stays of up to 30 days, Türkiye and Russia for up to 90 days, China for up to 30 days and Georgia for up to 360 days. Malaysia provides an arrival card under a 30-day visa-free regime, while Thailand requires an arrival card for stays of up to 60 days. Suriname provides a tourist card for stays of up to 90 days.
The visa-on-arrival or simplified-entry category includes 38 destinations, including Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Nepal, Indonesia and Cambodia. Some of these countries also offer electronic visas. The eTA category includes Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya and Seychelles. Côte d’Ivoire requires prior registration, while Seychelles requires tourist registration.
The report separately examines Uzbekistan’s entry openness score. This measure reflects entry conditions for foreign passport holders travelling to Uzbekistan and differs from the passport ranking, which measures access for Uzbek citizens travelling to other countries.
According to visa reciprocity data, 96 countries allow their citizens to enter Uzbekistan without a visa, with an electronic authorization or with a visa on arrival, while Uzbek passport holders require a prior visa to travel to those countries. These include Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan and Canada.
The opposite group comprises 25 countries that provide Uzbek citizens with visa-free or simplified entry but require their own citizens to obtain a visa when travelling to Uzbekistan. These include Iran, Kenya, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
In additional comparisons, the Uzbek passport ranks 22nd among 57 countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, sixth among 10 Shanghai Cooperation Organisation member states and 55th among 57 participating states of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe. Among presidential republics, Uzbekistan ranks 39th out of 57.
A prior visa is required for 129 destinations, accounting for 65.2% of global coverage. Some of these destinations offer electronic visas, but these remain in the category requiring prior authorization and are not considered equivalent to visa-free access or eTA.
The Passport Reports rank passports primarily by their mobility score.
When passports have the same mobility score, the ranking takes into account the number of visa-free destinations, followed by the number of destinations offering eTA and the number offering visas on arrival or similar simplified entry. If all indicators are identical, the passports share the same ranking position.
