Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — New modern trolleybuses will begin operating on the Urgench–Khiva route on 27 October, reducing the interval between services from 25 minutes to 12 minutes. The Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan announced the launch.
Preparations for the new vehicles included infrastructure upgrades. On 25 October, a new building for the state institution Xorazm Trolleybus Saroyi (Khorezm Trolleybus Depot) was opened in Urgench.
The trolleybuses will serve a route connecting Urgench International Airport, the city’s railway station and Khiva railway station. Passenger services are planned to operate under a gross contract system.
The transport upgrade is intended to improve the quality of public transport and strengthen connections between Urgench and Khiva.
