Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Sodik Safayev met with Lars Thuesen, Denmark’s special representative at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Central Asia, on 16 September, according to the press service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.
The sides discussed prospects for developing interparliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and Denmark. Following the meeting, they agreed to intensify contacts between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and the Danish Folketing, as well as continue regular mutual visits and exchanges.
Particular attention was paid to the current state and prospects of political, trade, economic and investment cooperation. The participants emphasised the importance of increasing bilateral trade and attracting Danish companies to implement projects in Uzbekistan.
Promising areas identified at the meeting included energy, municipal infrastructure, water management, agriculture and vocational education. The sides also considered opportunities for joint initiatives in these fields.
In addition, the participants exchanged views on strengthening regional cooperation in Central Asia, mitigating the effects of climate change and expanding opportunities for young people.
