Ferghana Seizes Drugs Worth 1.2 Billion Soums
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Authorities in Ferghana have uncovered the illegal circulation of a large batch of pharmaceutical products with a total value of 1.247 billion soums, according to a joint operation conducted by the customs service and the regional State Security Service.
The operation was carried out by the anti-smuggling division of the Ferghana regional customs department together with representatives of the State Security Service. The inspection took place during the unloading of pharmaceutical products from a Gazelle vehicle at the residence of a resident of the city of Ferghana.
During the inspection of the vehicle and the residential property, investigators found that more than 29,400 units of 38 types of medicines were stored in the courtyard and kitchen of the house. In the Gazelle vehicle, authorities also discovered more than 16,500 units of 25 types of pharmaceutical products.
Following operational investigative measures, it was established that approximately 46,000 units of medicines lacked documentation confirming their quality and origin and were stored and transported in violation of established regulations.
The seized pharmaceutical products have been placed under temporary storage. Preliminary investigative checks are ongoing.
