Shakhrisabz Khokimiyat Explains Khokim's Home Visit Controversy

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The khokimiyat of the Shakhrisabz district commented on a video circulating on social media in which the district khokim enters a private home, criticizes its sanitary condition, and orders a fine to be issued against the owner.

In the published footage, the head of the district inspects living and utility areas, calls attention to their condition, and states that the recording will be posted on the mahalla's Telegram channel.

The mahalla chairwoman, who was present during the visit, also makes remarks to the homeowner regarding the upkeep of the house and the surrounding territory. At the end of the video, the khokim instructs that a fine be drawn up "for the street, for the house, and for the trash."

Following media inquiries, the district khokimiyat issued an official clarification. According to its data, during an inspection round, the khokim noticed a house that appeared abandoned from the outside and asked the mahalla chairwoman whether anyone lived there.

As reported by the administration, the mahalla chairwoman explained that elderly persons with disabilities lived nearby, but mistakenly pointed to the neighboring house. The khokimiyat noted that both properties are located next to each other and share a common driveway, which caused the confusion. Following this, the khokim reportedly visited the correct house.

The statement also says that before entering the house, the khokim and the mahalla chairwoman received permission from the owner. According to the administration, recommendations were provided during the visit regarding the upkeep of the home and adjacent territory, as well as the effective use of the household plot.

The khokimiyat emphasized that the video recording was not made by press service staff, but by representatives of the so-called "mahalla seven." According to the administration, the clip was published not on the official information resources of the khokimiyat, but in a closed working group.

The administration stated that the misunderstanding was caused by an error by the mahalla chairwoman when pointing out the home, and that the purpose of the visit was not to humiliate citizens or violate their right to privacy.
