Ferghana region and Rosatom discuss nuclear technology

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Ferghana region and Russia’s Rosatom discussed opportunities to use nuclear and other advanced technologies, as well as potential joint investment projects, the Ferghana regional hokimiyat said.

On 19 August 2026, Ferghana region Hokim Khairullo Bozorov received a delegation led by Alexey Dremuchev, general director of the Rosatom Central Asia regional center.

The sides discussed mutually beneficial cooperation, the implementation of prospective investment projects and localization of production. The Russian side presented information on Rosatom’s activities in several areas, including nuclear energy, mechanical engineering, nuclear medicine, digital technologies and the production of advanced new materials.

Participants noted that Uzbekistan, including the Ferghana region, has a favorable investment climate and significant industrial potential.

The sides considered opportunities to launch a pilot project in the medical sector, as well as joint projects in the fuel and energy sector, energy storage, composite materials production, personnel training and transport and logistics.

The regional hokim confirmed his readiness to support mutually beneficial initiatives and joint projects.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to develop a roadmap covering priority areas of cooperation and the implementation of joint projects.
