Economy Ministry, IMF Discuss Expansion of JISPA Program
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Akhadbek Khaydarov met with Takashi Nagaoka, Director of the International Monetary Fund's Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, to discuss the development of bilateral cooperation and the implementation of the JISPA capacity-building program. The Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan reported the meeting.
During the talks, the sides discussed priority areas of cooperation, including expanding the partnership, strengthening human capital and conducting joint analytical research.
Particular attention was given to the JISPA educational program, which is aimed at enhancing the qualifications of employees of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. The participants discussed the program's significance and its opportunities for training specialists.
The meeting noted that JISPA is implemented jointly by the Government of Japan and the International Monetary Fund and is designed to train highly qualified public sector professionals from countries across Asia and the Pacific in economic policy, macroeconomic analysis, public finance and institutional governance.
The program offers participants the opportunity to pursue master's and doctoral degrees at leading Japanese universities in economics, macroeconomics, public policy and public finance. The curriculum is based on international standards and combines theoretical instruction with practical skills in designing and implementing economic reforms.
The program also provides opportunities to exchange experience with international experts, academics and public administration specialists, helping participants strengthen their analytical capabilities and strategic thinking.
Upon completing their studies, scholarship recipients are expected to return to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, where they will contribute to economic policymaking, strengthening financial stability and implementing reforms aimed at ensuring sustainable economic development.
At the conclusion of the meeting, representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the IMF reaffirmed their mutual interest in expanding cooperation and implementing joint projects.
