DP World to Begin Construction of Tashkent Terminal

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — DP World plans to begin construction of a multimodal logistics terminal in Tashkent in October 2026, with investment in the project totaling US$288 million, Tashkent Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov said, according to Uzbek media.

The project is being implemented near the capital and will create modern logistics infrastructure for residents of the Yangy Avlod special industrial zone. The complex will include a container rail terminal, a freight terminal, a customs post and warehouse facilities.

The project will cover a total area of 82.3 hectares. According to the presented data, the warehouse complex will have a total area of 226,500 square meters. Related logistics services, including services provided by third-party operators, will also be available.

The railway terminal will have the capacity to handle 150,000 TEUs, while the road terminal will be able to serve up to 55,000 trucks. The customs infrastructure will include a customs office and a vehicle storage area.

The main objective of the project is to provide businesses in the special industrial zone with modern logistics infrastructure and establish a more efficient supply system. The project is expected to accelerate logistics processes, improve supply chain efficiency and create conditions for expanding production localization.

Project materials also indicate an estimated facility capacity of 120 million tons of cargo and 150,000 containers.

The joint venture DP World Tashkent Freight Terminal (DPW Tashkent JV JSC) was established with participation from Uzbek and Emirati sides. Tashkent Invest Company holds a 15% stake, while DP World owns 85%. Total investment in the project has been set at US$288 million.

The head of DP World handed Uzbekistan’s President an invitation to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the future terminal.

An agreement to establish a joint venture to develop and operate the multimodal terminal was signed by DP World and Tashkent Invest, a subsidiary of the Tashkent city administration, in October 2025.

DP World operates projects in port and integrated logistics infrastructure. According to the presented data, the group manages more than 60 port terminals, industrial parks, logistics centers and other facilities with a combined capacity of more than 90 million TEUs.
