Denis Istomin progresses to quarterfinals of St.Petersburg Open

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Uzbekistan number one Denis Istomin advanced to the quarterfinals of St.Petersburg Open in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

In the second round of the tournament, Denis Istomin downed Benjamin Becker from Germany in three sets 2:6, 7:6 and 6:4.

The match lasted two hours and two minutes. Istomin recorded nine aces against two of Becker. Istomin recorded two break points, while Becker had three break points. German player committed four double faults against one of Istomin.

In the quarterfinals of the tournament, Istomin will play against Dominic Thiem of Austria, who currently holds 21st place in ATP ranking.
