US Transfers Advanced Screening Equipment to Uzbekistan Airports

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — All international airports in the Republic of Uzbekistan will be equipped with the latest generation of high-tech screening equipment.

Joint stock company Uzbekistan Airports, in cooperation with American partners, has successfully completed a project for the dynamic transfer of modern technical control equipment free of charge. The delivery of the equipment was the practical result of a series of working meetings and multilateral negotiations with diplomatic representatives of the US Embassy in Tashkent, as well as with the leadership of the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

Following the integration work carried out within the framework of the US Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) Program, the Government of the United States of America transferred 12 advanced LEIDOS gas analyzers to the Uzbek side free of charge.

The received LEIDOS gas analyzers represent the latest models of specialized digital systems in the field of comprehensive aviation security. The devices are designed for the rapid contactless detection of microscopic traces and vapors of a wide range of explosives. The equipment will be used during the mandatory screening of commercial cargo, postal shipments, baggage, and the hand luggage of airline passengers.

The practical implementation of these systems will significantly optimize the speed and quality of mandatory screening procedures in terminals, multiply the security of critical infrastructure objects, and guarantee full compliance of Uzbekistan's airport complexes with current international ICAO standards and recommended global practices.

Commenting on the event, Bekhzod Yusupov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC Uzbekistan Airports for Aviation Security and Compliance, expressed deep gratitude to the US Embassy in Uzbekistan, the leadership of the international EXBS program, and the US Transportation Security Administration for their high level of trust, technical support, and the constructive nature of the interaction.

The relevant executive emphasized that thanks to regular professional contact with American partners, technological projects are being successfully implemented in the republic, directly influencing the modernization of the industry and the professional growth of domestic specialists.

The company added that the systematic development of partnership ties and the exchange of accumulated advanced experience will continue to serve to strengthen long-term strategic cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States.
