Notably, midfielder Thomas Partey appeared in the starting lineup for the African team. The footballer had been forced to miss his national team's debut match against Panama—in which Ghana secured a 1-0 victory—due to Canadian authorities refusing to issue him an entry visa.
Following this match, the football teams of England and Ghana have earned 4 points each, consolidating their positions in the tournament table. Group L also features the national teams of Croatia and Panama, who do not yet have any points in their tally based on the results of the first round.
