Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Uzbekistan national football team suffered a heavy defeat against the Portugal national team in their second-round match of the World Cup group stage.
The match, held in Houston, United States, ended with a score of 5-0 in favor of the European team. For the winners, goals were scored by Cristiano Ronaldo, who secured a brace in the 6th and 39th minutes, Nuno Mendes in the 17th minute, and Rafael Leao in the 87th minute. Furthermore, Uzbekistan player Abduvohid Nematov scored an own goal in the 60th minute of the match.
Following this victory, Portugal earned 4 points and moved up to first place in the Group K standings. Colombia sits in second place with 3 points, the Democratic Republic of the Congo is third with 1 point, and the Uzbekistan national team rounds out the quartet with no points.
