Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A Damas driver in Karshi has been identified after committing a series of serious traffic violations, including allegedly endangering the lives of minors, Uzbekistan’s State Traffic Safety Service (SBPD) said.
The incident circulated on social media. During an investigation, law enforcement authorities established the driver’s identity and the circumstances of the incident.
According to the SBPD, the driver was traveling at high speed between apartment buildings in the territory of the Chulkuvar citizens’ assembly mahalla in Karshi. He failed to respond when a prevention inspector and local residents ordered him to stop.
The driver also acknowledged that he did not have a driving licence and had taken the vehicle without his older brother’s permission. According to his account, he violated the speed limit in the Shurtan mahalla and nearly hit a child who ran onto the road.
Administrative reports were drawn up against the driver under Part 5 of Article 125, Part 2 of Article 128⁵, Part 2 of Article 128¹⁰ and Part 2 of Article 135 of Uzbekistan’s Code of Administrative Responsibility.
The Damas vehicle was taken to an impound lot for temporary storage.
Law enforcement authorities urged anyone who may have been affected by the driver’s serious traffic violations to contact 102 or the nearest internal affairs department.
The SBPD also called on drivers to strictly observe traffic rules.
