CIS Foreign Ministers Approve Cooperation Measures — Saidov

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov has reported on the results of an expanded meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), held in Moscow.

According to him, the meeting reviewed the outcomes of joint work and set priorities for future cooperation. Special attention was given to preparations for the CIS Heads of State Council meeting, scheduled for October this year in Turkmenistan.

As part of the discussions, the parties agreed on and adopted 10 decisions aimed at strengthening multilateral cooperation. The Foreign Minister noted that the agreements reached are intended to serve as a basis for further rapprochement between member states, ensuring stability and sustainable socio-economic development across the CIS region.

A separate meeting of foreign ministers was held in the “Central Asia + Russia” format with the participation of delegations from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Russia. The talks focused on key issues of six-party cooperation and proposals for its further development.

The sides discussed the expansion of economic cooperation, the implementation of joint projects, and measures to address environmental challenges. Significant attention was paid to green energy, rational use of water resources, and environmental protection.

Participants emphasized the importance of strengthening regional security amid a more complex international environment and the need to coordinate efforts to ensure sustainable development.

Following the events, an exchange of views took place on expanding multilateral cooperation, strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties, and ensuring regional stability.

Bakhtiyor Saidov expressed gratitude to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and the organizers for the high level of the meetings, noting that the agreements reached will contribute to further strengthening strategic partnership and friendly relations among the countries.
