Bukhara Desert Oasis & Spa complex receives official status of tourism cluster

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Bukhara Desert Oasis & Spa tourist complex, located in the Romitan district of the Bukhara region, has officially been granted the prestigious status of a tourism cluster. The corresponding state certificate was presented to the management of the facility in a solemn ceremony by the Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sukhrobzhon Bobokalonov. This step is aimed at diversifying the national hospitality industry and creating fundamentally new recreational zones in the desert regions of the country.

The legal basis for the large-scale transformation of the facility was the presidential decree of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PP-161 dated 30 April 2026, which outlined the target task of forming a modern tourism infrastructure based on a cluster approach.

On the eve of this event, the Chairman of the Committee for Tourism, Abdulaziz Akkulov, made a working trip to the Bukhara region, where he held an open dialogue with local entrepreneurs. During the field meetings, specialists discussed the launch of investment programs, the creation of original adventure-focused routes, and the promotion of ecotourism potential. The assignment of the new status to the complex was the practical result of these interdepartmental consultations.

The newly formed cluster represents a single ecosystem that harmoniously combines modern hotel capacities, a developed spa service, gastronomic locations, and interactive zones showcasing elements of traditional Uzbek culture. Its unique geographical position allows it to offer foreign and domestic travelers exclusive products in the segment of desert and ecological tourism, which were previously not widely represented on the regional market.

Department experts emphasize that the activities of the Bukhara Desert Oasis & Spa cluster will exert a powerful synergistic effect on the economy of the Romitan district. The project's implementation will attract additional private investment, create sustainable jobs for the local population, and significantly improve service standards in the Bukhara region. Scaling such infrastructure projects is intended to strengthen Uzbekistan's overall competitiveness on the international tourism market and turn the republic's arid regions into new points of attraction for global travelers.
