Ambassadors present credentials to President Karimov

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the Oqsaroy on 25 February, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received credentials from the newly appointed Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of several countries – Nikolai Klakevich of the Republic of Belarus, Edgars Bondars of the Republic of Latvia, Neithart Hoefer-Wissing of the Federal Republic of Germany, Konstantin Zhgenti of Georgia, Namik Guner Erpul of the Republic of Turkey, Sun Litze of the People’s Republic of China.

During the follow-up conversations with new heads of diplomatic missions, the head of our state cordially congratulated them on the appointment and stressed that Uzbekistan has always attached an important significance to the further development of mutually advantageous relations with all the nations they represent, and wished them every success in fulfilling their authoritative and honorable endeavors, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan said.

As it was noted, Uzbekistan and Belarus have jointly created a robust normative base of bilateral cooperation that allows the two sides to vigorously bolster the available potential of interaction across all spheres of shared interest.

Ambassador Nikolai Klakevich said he regards his principal task as the promotion of steadfast development in the bilateral ties for the good of our two nations, for the benefit of Belarusian and Uzbek peoples, who are linked with old and time-tested friendly bonds.

At the meeting with the Ambassador of Latvia it was noted that the regular Uzbek-Latvian political dialogue, close ties between the parliaments, business circles, representatives of academia and education, culture and arts of the two countries constitute the solid bedrock that the bilateral cooperation is currently built on.

The October 2013 state visit of Uzbekistan’s leader to Latvia and the fruitful talks that produced 31 documents afforded a new impetus to the intensification of the mutually advantageous interaction.

Ambassador Edgars Bondars assured the President of Uzbekistan that he will make his every effort and diplomatic experience to enhance the relations between our two nations and implement the interstate treaties and agreements.

Germany is currently one of Uzbekistan’s key political and economic partners on the European continent. The bilateral trade turnover reached 591 million US dollars last year, displaying a considerable increase from indicators of the previous year. A whole range of enterprises with the involvement of leading German companies operate in Uzbekistan that with the help of cutting-edge technologies manufacture competitive goods in demand not only in our country, but also abroad.

Ambassador Neithart Hoefer-Wissing said he considers his mission in Uzbekistan as a good opportunity to make a worthwhile input into the consolidation of comprehensive cooperation between our two countries and peoples.

Today, Uzbekistan and Georgia steadily advance cooperation both in the bilateral format and within international institutions. The two sides are interested, as it was underscored during the conversation, in the consistent expansion of mutually advantageous relations and a new dynamic in the trade-economic, investment, transport-communications and other interaction.

Georgia’s Ambassador noted that he regards his appointment to Uzbekistan, with whom his native land is bound with longstanding friendly ties, as a tremendous honor for him and that he is willing to make his every effort to facilitate the reinforcement of traditional bonds between our two nations.

Pivotal in their respective regions, Uzbekistan and Turkey are equally interested in the persistent development of bilateral cooperation in all areas of shared interest. That was confirmed also during a recent brief meeting of the head of our state with the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Sochi.

Ambassador Namik Guner Erpul noted that he sees his appointment to Uzbekistan as one of the highest points in his diplomatic career and that he is disposed to spare neither time nor effort to work toward the enhancement of friendly ties between our two countries and peoples.

During the conversation with the Chinese Ambassador it was noted that the exchange of visits at the highest level in 2012 and 2013, the thorough and confidence-based talks between the leaders of Uzbekistan and the PRC across key issues in the bilateral and regional agendas, the inked Joint Declaration on the Establishment of Strategic Partnership between our two nations, the Treaty on Friendship and Cooperation and the Joint Declaration on the Intensification and Enhancement of Bilateral Relations of Strategic Partnership, along with other agreements of economic nature have indisputably anchored, for many years to come, the underlying foundations of cooperation and afforded a new impetus to interstate ties in all areas of interaction.

Ambassador Sun Litze, in his turn, stressed the willingness of the Chinese leadership to build relations with Uzbekistan on a long-term and equal basis and his predisposal to make his every effort to fulfill this critical task.
