Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Scientists and lecturers from Almalyk State Technical Institute (ASTI) won several prizes and state awards at the national “Engineers of the Future” competition organized by Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation.
The institute’s development for extracting manganese and iron from steelmaking slag won first place in the “Best Invention” category among academic and teaching staff. The technology has already been introduced at several domestic enterprises and at Türkiye’s DEMIR GROUP.
Another development that received high marks from the jury focuses on optimizing hydrometallurgical processes for the selective extraction of manganese using artificial intelligence.
Institute representatives also took third place in the “Best Invention” category among practicing engineers with a technology designed to extend the service life and restore hammer crushers.
The competition brought together engineering, scientific, technical and innovative developments aimed at addressing practical production challenges.
ASTI’s projects covered three key areas: processing metallurgical waste, applying artificial intelligence in production and improving industrial equipment.
