Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Tashkent Metro added 14 modern train sets comprising 56 carriages to its fleet in 2026, with all trains planned for the year delivered before the start of the new academic year, Uzbekistan's Ministry of Transport said.
The delivery is part of a programme to renew the metro's rolling stock and improve passenger service. As a result of the purchases, nearly 70% of the capital's metro fleet has been renewed.
The new trains are operating on four Tashkent Metro lines. Their introduction has reduced service intervals, including during peak hours.
On the Chilanzar Line, trains run at intervals of 1.5 to 2 minutes during peak hours. On the Uzbekistan Line, the interval is about three minutes, while trains on the Yunusabad Line run every four minutes. On the Elevated Ring Metro Line, trains operate every seven to eight minutes.
The purchase of the new train sets is aimed at creating more comfortable conditions for passengers and further improving the efficiency of the capital's metro system.
