Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan completed 259.4 trillion soums worth of construction work in January-August 2026, an increase of 11.8% compared with the same period in 2025, according to the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The highest growth rate was recorded in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, where construction work increased by 40.8% to 8.9 trillion soums.
Samarkand Region followed with growth of 35.5%, Khorezm Region with 28.1%, Syrdarya Region with 23.7% and Navoi Region with 22.9%.
Tashkent accounted for the largest volume of construction work at 88.7 trillion soums, or more than one-third of the national total. At the same time, the capital recorded the lowest growth rate among the regions, at 7.4%.
Tashkent Region ranked second by volume, with 24.1 trillion soums, up 13.8%, while Ferghana Region ranked third with 15.4 trillion soums, up 16.5%.
Construction of buildings and structures accounted for two-thirds of all work, or 66.7%. The segment totaled 173.1 trillion soums, an increase of 3.5%.
The other two areas grew faster. Civil engineering increased by 31.6% to 55.5 trillion soums, accounting for 21.4% of the total. Specialized construction activities grew by 36% to 30.8 trillion soums, representing 11.9% of the total.
Small enterprises and microfirms carried out more than half of all construction work, accounting for 54.8%, or 142.2 trillion soums. Their output increased by 10.9% year on year.
Large construction organizations completed 66.7 trillion soums worth of work, or 25.7% of the total, increasing their output by 18.8%.
Construction work carried out by households amounted to 50.5 trillion soums, or 19.5% of the total, representing growth of 6.2%.
The largest volumes of work carried out by large construction organizations were recorded in Tashkent at 21.6 trillion soums, Tashkent Region at 5.2 trillion soums and Kashkadarya Region at 3.6 trillion soums.
In several regions, the volume of work carried out by large construction organizations increased several-fold. It rose 5.1 times in Karakalpakstan, 2.8 times in Khorezm Region, 2.5 times in Samarkand Region, and 2.3 times in Bukhara and Namangan regions.
Samarkand was the only region where construction work carried out by households declined, reaching 90.8% of the level recorded a year earlier.
Non-state ownership accounted for 97.7% of all construction work, while state-owned entities accounted for 2.3%.
