Young Uzbek Causes Panic at Almaty Airport with Atomic Bomb Joke

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — An incident occurred at Almaty Airport involving a citizen of Uzbekistan who jokingly claimed that his luggage contained an atomic bomb, triggering an emergency situation.

The episode took place on 2 September at the check-in counter. Officers from the Transport Police Department classified the actions of the 18-year-old as a violation of public order and disturbance of the peace.

A case was opened against him under the article on petty hooliganism. He was fined more than 78,000 tenge, equivalent to about 1.8 million Uzbek soums.
