White House nominates new envoy to Uzbekistan

US President George W. Bush nominated Richard Boyce Norland as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Senate of US Congress.

The White House said on its web site that Richard Boyce Norland of Iowa is a Career Member of the Senior Foreign Service and Class of Counselor.

Currently, Jon Purnell works as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Uzbekistan. Jon Purnell presented his credentials as US Ambassador to Uzbekistan on 28 January 2004.
