Belgium and Egypt Draw 1-1 at World Cup Group Stage

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Belgium and Egypt played out a 1-1 draw in a group-stage match of the FIFA World Cup, which is being held across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The match took place in Seattle, Washington state.

Egypt took the lead in the 19th minute through Emam Ashour. Belgium equalised in the 66th minute after an own goal by Egyptian player Mohamed Hany.

Both teams compete in Group G and each earned one point from the match. Iran and New Zealand also feature in the group and are scheduled to play their match later.

Belgium will face Iran on 21 June in their next group fixture, while Egypt will play New Zealand in the night of 22 June.

The World Cup will conclude on 19 July. The tournament is being held with 48 national teams divided into 12 groups for the first time.

The top two teams from each group, along with the eight best third-placed teams, will advance to the round of 16. Argentina remain the defending World Cup champions.
