Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Saudi Arabia and Uruguay played out a 1–1 draw in a group-stage match of the FIFA World Cup.

The match was held in Miami, Florida.

Saudi Arabia took the lead in the 41st minute through Abdulrahman Al-Amri. Uruguay equalised in the 80th minute with a goal from Maximiliano Araújo.

Both teams compete in Group G of the tournament. Spain and Cape Verde are also in the group and earlier played out a 0–0 draw.

Saudi Arabia will face Spain on 21 June in their next match, while Uruguay will play Cape Verde in the night of 22 June (Moscow time).

The World Cup is being held across the United States, Canada, and Mexico and will conclude on 19 July. For the first time, the tournament features 48 national teams divided into 12 groups.

The top two teams from each group, along with the eight best third-placed teams, will advance to the knockout stage.
