Uzbekistan and UNODC Strengthen Anti-Drug Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, held talks in Vienna with Mónica Juma, UN Under-Secretary-General and newly appointed Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Uzbek side said.
The discussions focused on ongoing cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNODC, efforts to counter drug-related threats, and further joint steps to implement initiatives developed at the Samarkand International Forum held in April 2026 on combating transnational crime.
The parties also paid special attention to the protection of women, children and young people. Mirziyoyeva thanked Juma for supporting a side event organized by Uzbekistan on the margins of the 35th session of the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.
Both sides reaffirmed their readiness to further develop cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNODC in the areas of security, justice and sustainable development.
