Mirziyoyev, Trump Discuss Strategic Partnership Growth
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump on 7 August.
The two leaders discussed the further development of the Uzbekistan-U.S. strategic partnership, the current state of bilateral cooperation and current international issues. The Press Service of the President of Uzbekistan reported the conversation.
At the beginning of the call, Mirziyoyev once again congratulated Trump on the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence.
Trump, in turn, said relations between Uzbekistan and the United States had reached an unprecedented level and that the leaders of the two countries had established a close and trusting dialogue.
The two sides expressed satisfaction with the consistent implementation of agreements reached at the highest level and reviewed prospects for further strengthening the strategic partnership.
During the conversation, the leaders highly praised the momentum of bilateral contacts and exchanges across virtually all areas of cooperation. They noted the ongoing implementation of the three-year Economic Cooperation Program, the first meeting of the U.S.-Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council, expanding ties between regions of Uzbekistan and U.S. states, and said the introduction of a visa-free regime for U.S. citizens was contributing to the development of business contacts.
The sides are also implementing joint projects in civil aviation, automotive manufacturing, mining, infrastructure, energy, metallurgy, artificial intelligence, digital technologies and other sectors.
Discussing international issues, the leaders stressed the importance of continuing efforts to ensure global security and to achieve the peaceful settlement of international and regional conflicts.
The presidents also reviewed the schedule of upcoming bilateral and multilateral events.
At the conclusion of the telephone conversation, Mirziyoyev invited Trump to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan at a time convenient for him.
