Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan discussed prospects for further cooperation in geology, including the digitalization of the sector, mineral processing and the development of rare and rare-earth metals production, Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Mining and Geology said.
Delegations from the two countries met in Tashkent on 13 September on the sidelines of GEOMIN-2026. Uzbekistan was represented by First Deputy Minister Feruza Khamidova and Deputy Minister Rustam Yusupov, while Kazakhstan was represented by Vice Minister of Industry and Construction Iran Sharkhan.
During the talks, the sides discussed further development of their longstanding cooperation in geology.
Particular attention was paid to digitalization, the deep processing of mineral resources, the production of rare and rare-earth metals, and the expansion of investment cooperation.
The Kazakh delegation noted the high level of organization of the international roundtable of geological services held as part of GEOMIN-2026, as well as its practical significance.
Following the meeting, the sides confirmed their readiness to continue cooperation in promising areas of geological development.
