Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Hydrometeorological Service Agency, UzHydromet, has warned of possible mudflows and floods in the country’s foothill and mountain areas on 22–23 August due to expected rainfall.

UzHydromet warned of a risk of flooding in some areas and urged residents and visitors to mountainous regions to take precautions.

In Tashkent Region, the threat of mudflows and floods has been forecast in the Akhangaran, Bostanlyk, Parkent, Pskent, Urtachirchik and Yukorichirchik districts, as well as in the cities of Angren and Almalyk.

In Jizzakh Region, the warning covers the Zaamin, Bakhmal, Gallaorol, Sharaf Rashidov, Farish and Yangiyabad districts.

In Namangan Region, the risk extends to the Pap, Kasansay, Chartak, Chust, Namangan and Yangikurgan districts.

In Ferghana Region, possible mudflows and floods are forecast in the Sokh, Shakhimardan, Ferghana and Besharyk districts.

In Andijan Region, the affected areas include the Andijan, Asaka, Jalakuduk, Kurgantepa, Pakhtaabad, Izboskan, Khojaabad and Marhamat districts, as well as the city of Khanabad.

In Kashkadarya Region, the warning applies to the Yakkabag, Dehkanabad, Chirakchi, Kitab, Shakhrisabz, Kamashi and Guzar districts.

In Surkhandarya Region, the risk of mudflows and floods remains in the Sariasiyo, Uzun, Altynsay, Denau, Baysun, Sherabad, Shurchi, Kumkurgan and Muzrabad districts.

UzHydromet recommends taking the forecast into account when planning trips to foothill and mountain areas on 22–23 August and observing safety measures if weather conditions deteriorate.
