Uzbekistan offers 70 state grants to citizens of four countries
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan has allocated 70 state-funded university places to citizens of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Mongolia for the 2026/2027 academic year. Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have each been allocated 20 places, while Mongolia has received 10, Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation said.
For citizens of Kyrgyzstan, grant places are available in six bachelor’s degree programs: preschool education, computer engineering, agronomy, water management and land reclamation, environmental protection and civil engineering.
Computer engineering and civil engineering have been allocated four places each. Another four places each are available in preschool education and agronomy. Water management and land reclamation, as well as environmental protection, have been allocated two places each.
Candidates from Kyrgyzstan will be selected by Osh State University. Studies at Uzbek universities will be conducted in Uzbek or Russian. Applicants must have proficiency in their chosen language and pass examinations in two specialized subjects.
For programs taught in Uzbek, knowledge of the Latin alphabet will also be taken into account, as the Uzbek alphabet based on Latin script is used in the educational process.
Applications from Kyrgyz citizens will be accepted until 22 August. Entrance examinations are scheduled for 24 August at 8 a.m. at the main academic building of Osh State University, Kabar reported.
Applicants must submit an application, a copy of their secondary education certificate or diploma, a copy of their passport, a medical certificate in Russian and photographs.
The program providing grants for Kyrgyz citizens to study at leading universities in Uzbekistan in priority fields has been in place since 2021. For the 2026/2027 academic year, it was expanded to citizens of four countries, including Mongolia.
At the same time, Uzbekistan is increasing state support for training specialists in fields that are in demand.
For the 2026/2027 academic year, the number of state grants for educational programs in information technology and artificial intelligence was increased by 35%. National admission quotas for higher education institutions were approved in July.
