Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Citizens of Uzbekistan working under subcontracts were among those injured in a fire at a residential construction site in Omsk, Russia, emergency services told TASS, UzDaily.uz reported.

According to updated data from the regional Ministry of Health, eight people were admitted to intensive care in serious condition after suffering burns covering between 20 percent and 90 percent of their bodies. Three other victims were examined by medical staff and discharged without requiring hospitalization.

The prosecutor's office confirmed that all the victims were construction workers. The fire broke out on the ground floor of a residential building under construction within the "Dravert Quarters" complex, where thermal insulation material ignited.

The Prosecutor's Office of the Kirov District of Omsk is conducting an investigation to assess compliance with labor protection requirements, fire safety regulations, and migration legislation. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
