Uzbekistan Senate Approves Amendments to Statistics Laws
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Senate of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis has approved a law introducing amendments and additions to several legislative acts aimed at improving the activities of statistical authorities.
The legislation expands the powers of the Statistics Council and establishes additional rules for handling official statistical data. The Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan reported this.
The law expands the powers of the Statistics Council, including in facilitating the establishment of a system for organizing statistical work and coordinating the activities of official statistics producers.
It also requires draft regulatory legal acts that may affect statistical data produced by official statistics producers or their activities in preparing such data to be coordinated with the authorized state body.
Other provisions establish procedures for correcting discrepancies identified in published official statistics. Corrected data must be made publicly available.
During the discussion, it was noted that the establishment of the National Statistics Committee is important for expanding the independence and powers of statistical authorities in implementing state policy on official statistics, as well as for coordinating efforts to develop official statistics within the national statistical system.
Senators emphasized that the law is aimed at improving the work of statistical authorities as part of administrative reforms and creating more favorable conditions for users of official statistical information.
The law was approved by the senators following consideration.
