Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and South Korea discussed new areas of agricultural cooperation, with particular attention to fruit and vegetable production and expanding mandarin cultivation in Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan’s Deputy Agriculture Minister Jamshid Abduzukhurov held the meeting with representatives of a Jeju agricultural cooperative, the Korean Mandarin Exporters Association and Sungshin L&P, Uzbekistan’s Agriculture Ministry said.

The sides reviewed the current state of agricultural cooperation between the two countries, existing opportunities and priority areas for further engagement.

One of the main topics was the development of fruit and vegetable production and increasing mandarin cultivation in Uzbekistan. Korean representatives presented Jeju’s practical experience in growing mandarins, quality control, sorting and packaging.

The participants also discussed approaches to promoting agricultural products, organizing marketing and export processes. The Korean side shared experience in preparing mandarins for sale and shipment to foreign markets.

The Uzbek side, in turn, presented the country’s potential in fruit and vegetable production, the types of agricultural products grown in Uzbekistan and measures to expand export opportunities.

Particular attention was paid to promoting Uzbek agricultural products in foreign markets. The sides discussed expanding export destinations, improving product competitiveness and strengthening direct ties between producers and exporters.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to continue work on practical projects in agriculture.

Cooperation is expected to focus on fruit and vegetable production, experience sharing and more effective use of opportunities for mutually beneficial partnership between Uzbekistan and South Korea.
