Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s state energy company Uzbekneftegaz has signed a contract with China’s CNPC XIBU Drilling Engineering Company Limited to drill 30 exploration wells in the Ustyurt region.

The project is scheduled for implementation in 2026–2028.

The agreement предусматривает the execution of drilling operations using the Chinese company’s engineering expertise and experience in the sector. The project is aimed at increasing production efficiency and expanding geological exploration activities.

Under the contract, wells with depths ranging from 5,500 to 6,000 meters will be drilled in new перспективные areas of the region.

The primary objective is to identify hydrocarbon reserves in formations characterized by abnormally high pressure and temperature.

The cooperation also includes the introduction of advanced technological solutions and the exchange of expertise with international partners, with a view to adapting best practices in the industry.

The project is seen as an important step in strengthening Uzbekistan’s geological exploration efforts and expanding the resource base of its oil and gas sector.
