Uzbekistan to subsidize diesel fuel costs for farmers

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Minister of Agriculture, Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, has approved a temporary procedure for providing subsidies to cotton and grain producers for the purchase of diesel fuel. The order, registered by the Ministry of Justice on 29 July 2026, has been published on the Lex.uz portal.

The document provides for partial reimbursement of the cost of diesel fuel purchased through the commodity exchange. The measure applies to purchases made between 1 April and 1 July 2026, while applications for the subsidy may be processed until 1 January 2027.

The subsidy covers the portion of the fuel price exceeding 13 million soums per tonne. The maximum payment for a single recipient is 2 million soums.

Subsidies will be awarded proactively through the Agro Subsidy portal without the need to submit a separate application. To qualify, the fuel must have been purchased exclusively through the Uzbek Republican Commodity Exchange, the cultivated land must be registered on the Agro Portal, and the fuel must have been used for agricultural operations carried out between April and June in accordance with the approved agrotechnological plan.

The amount of the subsidy will be calculated automatically based on data from the Agro Portal and the information system of the Uzbek Republican Commodity Exchange. Funds will be transferred to the recipient's bank account within three working days.

The subsidies may primarily be used to repay outstanding concessional loans obtained for agricultural production.

If the Agency for Agricultural Payments is unable to obtain the required information because of technical failures or disruptions in interagency data exchange, farmers will be able to submit an application independently in either written or electronic form.
