Ferghana Creates 250-Hectare Orchard Using Turkish Technology

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — An intensive 250-hectare orchard has been established in Ferghana district, growing export varieties of peaches, cherries, apricots and plums imported from Turkey. The project is being implemented by the joint venture Fergana agro cluster and logistics in the Dustlik mahalla.

Ferghana Region Governor Khayrullo Bozorov visited the district and reviewed the investor's progress. The orchard uses modern agricultural technologies, while a drip irrigation system has been introduced to improve the efficient use of water resources.

The first harvest is currently being collected from 70 hectares of the orchard. The use of intensive technologies is helping to increase yields and the quality of the produce.

Investor Ahmad Sarkangul briefed the regional governor on the project's current status, expansion plans and prospects for increasing export volumes.

As part of the next stage, another 300 hectares of land are planned to be developed to establish a new orchard. Once the project is fully implemented, it is expected to create 200 jobs.

Relevant officials have been instructed to address issues raised by the investor concerning subsidies and the project's electricity supply.
