Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia to Accelerate Investment Projects

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev discussed the implementation of joint investment projects and further cooperation priorities with Mohammad Abunayyan, co-chairman of the Uzbek-Saudi Business Council and chairman of ACWA's board of directors.

The sides focused on accelerating the implementation of previously reached agreements and expanding the participation of Saudi investors in Uzbekistan's priority economic sectors.

According to Jamshid Khodjaev, the current portfolio of joint initiatives includes projects in energy, infrastructure, water supply and wastewater management, district heating, healthcare and digital infrastructure.

Major projects include the construction of a new international airport in Tashkent with an investment of US$2.75 billion, wastewater management projects worth US$300 million and the development of a data centre with investment of about US$150 million.

Jamshid Khodjaev said further development of business ties and expansion of the investment partnership between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia would create new opportunities for sustainable economic growth and long-term cooperation.
